The Oregon Bankers Association’s (OBA) Education Foundation and Pacific Coast Banking School (PCBS) are pleased to announce the recipient of the 2023 Rise Above the Rest™ Scholarship. Antonio Carrillo, senior vice president and senior credit administrator at Northwest Bank in Lake Owego, has been awarded the multi-year scholarship aimed at advancing education for high-potential employees in the banking industry. Carrillo holds an associate degree from the College of Southern Nevada and is a 2020 graduate of OBA’s Executive Development Program. He joined Northwest Bank in 2017 and has over 20 years of credit management experience in all types of commercial, nonprofit and consumer loans. “Antonio has shown tremendous growth over the past several years working in the Credit Division at Northwest Bank. He is inquisitive, a quick learner, and most importantly, he approaches the lending team members with a collaborative way to obtain the best approval results for the borrower and bank,” said Northwest Bank SVP and Chief Credit Officer Autumn Hickman. “Antonio is highly respected as a leader at Northwest Bank, and he will utilize the new skills learned at PCBS to grow his credit expertise and achieve his goal to become a chief credit officer.” Carrillo will begin his enrollment at the three-year PCBS in August with an intensive two-week resident session on the University of Washington campus in Seattle. Founded in 1938, PCBS teaches the business of banking, offering graduate-level financial and risk management education hand-in-hand with strong leadership training. PCBS graduates earn a graduate-level certificate in the Business of Banking, as well as an Executive Leadership Certificate from the prestigious Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. This prestigious school boasts over 12,000 alumni, with hundreds serving as leaders of financial institutions. “It is an honor to attend and join an elite group of PCBS alumni,” says Carrillo. “Attending PCBS has been a goal of mine for the past 10 years, so you can imagine how excited I am to cross this milestone. I look forward to the upcoming training, challenges and growth I will receive from the course. I am extremely grateful to Norwest Bank’s management for making this possible, as well as every previous credit manager and mentor that pushed me to better my skills every day. Thank you PCBS and OBA for laying the solid foundation for bankers to better themselves at every opportunity possible.”
